Off-Campus Referral List

Community Resources and Professional Referrals

If a student would like to be referred off-campus or requires more in-depth counseling than we are able to provide, we have some resources you may use to search for and find a provider to make an appointment.

Finding an Off-Campus Mental Health Provider

HOW DO I FIND A PROVIDER?

For testing/evaluation, diagnosis, or medication, contact a psychiatrist or psychiatric nurse practitioner.

For therapy, contact a licensed counselor/therapist, marriage and family therapist, clinical social worker, or a psychologist.

THINGS TO CONSIDER:

  • Is the provider taking new clients?
  • What insurance do they accept?
  • What are their session fees?
  • Will the appointment be virtual or in-person? If in-person, make sure you know how to get to the office.
  • Do you have time to travel to and from your appointment? (Do you have obligations before or after the appointment that might conflict?)
  • Is the identity (gender, racial/ethnic, sexuality, age) of the provider important to me?
  • Are there particular modalities of therapy that I prefer or wish to try?
  • Is there particular expertise that would be important for the provider to have?
  • Therapist availability and compatibility with your schedule.

Please note: Referral lists are generated from publicly available records and the providers are licensed professionals. This list does not constitute an endorsement of services.

HOW DO I MAKE AN APPOINTMENT?

When speaking with a provider or leaving a message you will want to share your name, what you are calling for, and your insurance (if applicable). For example:

  • “Hi, my name is (insert name), and I was referred to you by 澳门金沙投注_任你博-官网 Student Counseling Center. I am interested in scheduling an initial appointment with you regarding (insert issue, medication, therapy, or testing). My insurance is (insert insurance) and it looks like you are a provider in that network. Could you please call me back at (insert your phone number and/or email) at your earliest convenience?”

We recommend you contact at least three providers as it may take time for them to respond. Finding a mental health provider can be daunting.
