My drawings revolve around the memories I have of home. I grew up driving on long country roads and would often pass unique houses or barns, many of which were often abandoned. These were structures I became used to seeing consistently across many small towns in Texas and they gave me a feeling of comfort as I would pass them. At eighteen I decided to move across the country for college, and suddenly these little places started to hold a greater place in my heart. My art became a safe space for me to deal with being so far away from home. On wood panels, I use graphite pencils to create buildings and landscapes that remind me of Texas. Although these dwellings are personal to me, it is my hope that people can find their own version of “home” within my drawings.
