SOS supports students in processing medical Leave of Absence (LOA) requests due to extreme extenuating circumstances during the course of a semester or term.

Please contact Financial Aid (finaid@mica.edu) and Student Accounts (studentaccounts@mica.edu) to discuss any potential financial impact a Leave of Absence may impose. Additionally, please refer to the 澳门金沙投注_任你博-官网 Refund Policy to check your eligibility for a refund. Refunds are based on a student's last day of attendance. Please note that not all non-澳门金沙投注_任你博-官网 scholarships honor 澳门金沙投注_任你博-官网's refund policy.

The purpose of a Leave of Absence is to allow a pause in your studies at 澳门金沙投注_任你博-官网 due to extreme extenuating circumstances. Students who pursue a Leave of Absence for this reason are eligible to return within 3 years, and are able to preserve certain 澳门金沙投注_任你博-官网 financial aid packages and scholarships.

Schedule required meeting with Ass. Director of SOS

If your last day of attendance is BEFORE the 5th week in the semester:

  • Students may be eligible for a refund per  澳门金沙投注_任你博-官网’s refund policy.
  • Students taking an LOA in the first five weeks of the semester fall within the 澳门金沙投注_任你博-官网’s college-wide withdrawal period and will receive Ws on their transcripts for any classes in which they were enrolled.
  • To request a medical LOA during this time complete this form and schedule a meeting with the Assistant Director of Student Outreach and Support. 
  • Students who take a medical LOA via SOS in this time period will need to submit supporting documentation upon return from the medical LOA to this form. Documentation should note that the student is in a position to return successfully to 澳门金沙投注_任你博-官网.

If your last day of attendance is AFTER the 5th week in the semester:

  • No refund is available per 澳门金沙投注_任你博-官网’s refund policy.
  • If a student has supporting documentation for a medical Leave of Absence, SOS will provide Medical Withdrawals for all courses in which the student is enrolled. 
  • REVIEW SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION REQUIREMENTS (CLICK HERE)
  • To request a medical LOA you must submit supporting document to this form and schedule a meeting with the Assistant Director of Student Outreach and Support. 
  • Students who take a medical LOA via SOS in this time period will need to submit supporting documentation upon return from the medical LOA to this form. Documentation should note that the student is in a position to return successfully to 澳门金沙投注_任你博-官网.
  • If a student can not provide supporting documentation for a medical Leave of Absence they may not be eligible to receive Medical Withdrawals for their classes. However, they can still take a non-medical LOA if they wish to take a pause in their studies for subsequent semester(s) which will allow them to preserve eligible 澳门金沙投注_任你博-官网 financial aid and scholarship packages. 

Open Studies students can request a medical LOA up until a month following the end of a term with supporting documentation
