Dr. Avetta WhiteAvetta White, PH.D., LCPC, LPC, NCC
Director

Dr. White (she/her) earned her doctorate degree in Higher Education from Morgan State University in 2018. Dr. White focused her research on the presenting mental health and psychosocial stressors of minority college students. Dr. White obtained her master’s degree in Professional Counseling from Argosy University in 2005. Dr. White is a Virginia native and received her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Longwood University in 2002. Dr. White has served as a clinician for over 14 years and have worked in higher education for over 19 years. As a clinician, Dr. White is a licensed professional counselor in MD, VA, and DC. Prior to arriving at 澳门金沙投注_任你博-官网 in July 2022, Dr. White worked in a college counseling center serving in several capacities. Dr. White made it her mission to provide support, programming, and community outreach in mental health, wellness, community health, and student services. Dr. White has a passion for serving college students and underserved populations in the community. Dr. White’s goal is to continue serving the needs of the community she serves through her expertise in mental health and higher education.

 

Sam RothSamantha Roth, MSW, LCSW-C, Associate Director

Sam (she/her) received her masters in clinical social work from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2017, and specializes in working with survivors of trauma and clients living non-traditional lifestyles such as ethical non-monogamy and participating in kink. She has almost ten years of working within systems such as the education, legal, and medical systems. She is a board approved supervisor for both counselors and social workers and is dedicated to supporting the growth of newer clinicians. While a Virginia native, Samantha has lived in Baltimore since 2017 with her partner, two (not at all) attention-starved cats, and a bookshelf full of fantasy novels.

 

 

Dr. Kristen CappsKristen Capps, Ph.D.
Psychologist

Dr. Capps (she/her) is a licensed psychologist who earned her doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from Adelphi University and her master’s degree in psychology from The New School for Social Research. She has over 10 years of experience providing therapy in a broad range of settings. In addition to providing therapy, Dr. Capps has enjoyed teaching at the college level, coordinating intervention research, providing training on mental health topics, and engaging with the community. 

Having worked with people of all ages from many diverse backgrounds, Dr. Capps strives to make therapy personalized, comfortable, and even fun! She works to break down barriers to accessing care, and tailors her approaches to each client’s unique needs and personality. Above all, Dr. Capps is honored to walk with you on your journey. When not in the office she enjoys reading, community involvement, spending time with loved ones, and being outside.

 

Dorian HollidayDorian Holliday, MA, LCPC
Counselor/Care-Navigator

Before starting at SCC, Dorian (he/him) worked as a figure model at 澳门金沙投注_任你博-官网 from 2017-2021. Dorian received his master’s degree in counseling psychology from Towson University in 2022. At SCC, Dorian is both a counselor and care navigator, which includes helping students find therapists, psychiatrists, and other resources outside of 澳门金沙投注_任你博-官网. Dorian’s work focuses on life transitions, depression, anxiety, interpersonal relationships, school, career, and identity. As a Black gay man, Dorian is passionate about social justice and breaking down stigma and barriers in the mental health field for people from marginalized communities. A Baltimore native, Dorian is an avid foodie and enjoys tennis, ballet, pop culture, festivals, and traveling.

Emma CaleyEmma Caley
Clinical Intern

 

 

Emma Caley (she/her) is currently completing her Master’s in clinical mental health counseling at Johns Hopkins University. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from Miami University with a major in psychology and minors in anthropology and women’s & gender Studies. Her prior experience includes working in private practice, a research lab, and gender & sexuality related student affairs. 
As a member of the queer community, Emma strives to create a supportive and affirming environment where clients feel safe to explore their identities, challenge personal barriers, and cultivate a deeper connection with their authentic selves. She recognizes the integral role that mental health plays in one’s college experience. Emma takes a solution-focused approach, hoping to empower her clients long-term through the discovery of personal strengths, applicable mental health tools, and knowledge that uplifts. Outside of work, Emma enjoys embracing her grandma-ish hobbies – which include crocheting, baking, and cuddling with her spoiled cat.

 

Steve WolfSteve Wolf
Administrative Assistant

Steve (he/him) loves being at 澳门金沙投注_任你博-官网. During SCC office hours, he is available to help with setting appointment times and taking questions. Steve has many years past experience working at other Maryland colleges and comes from a theatre background both on-stage, behind-the-scenes, and front-of-house. He has also worked as a marketing and graphic artist. Outside of work, he has interests in  disability support (hidden and visual)  and communication of arts integration within schools and communities. He loves photography, pen and ink, acrylics, cartooning, Baltimore sports, and of course, time with family.
