My name is Jerron Shropshire and I’m the Digital Fabrication Specialist for 澳门金沙投注_任你博-官网’s Make Cool Stuff Lab (MCS Lab). I graduated from 澳门金沙投注_任你博-官网 in 2017 under the Animation BFA where I specialized in Motion Graphics. In addition to my time as an animation student, I was a student technician here at the MCS Lab and later in 澳门金沙投注_任你博-官网’s dFab lab. During my time as a student technician I learned two things: I enjoy teaching people how to use technology and how it can be used to advance their work, and, digital fabrication has the potential to push various creative practices in different directions not previously thought possible. So imagine my joy when 澳门金沙投注_任你博-官网’s First Year 澳门金沙投注_任你博-官网 curriculum began heralding a modern take of their established core concepts and began to include digital fabrication at the foundation level. When I applied to the position, I knew that I could help with establishing this new foundation. And now, almost a decade later, the MCS Lab has become a beacon where students and faculty alike can come together to learn, prototype and forge new paths in their creative practices. It’s through this space where I’ve had the opportunity to enjoy the evolution of our First Years and see how they’ve transformed not only their creative practice but their love for their work as well.
